Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita commended the facilitators for their expertise, patience, and ability to clearly articulate complex concepts. He expressed high expectations of the participants and encouraged them to share the knowledge and skills acquired across all departments and levels within the university.

“Kaimosi Friends University, like other universities in Kenya, stands at a crossroads in fulfilling its core mandate while upholding transparency and integrity. After this training, I hope you will inspire your colleagues, lead by example, and make productivity a core value. Together, let us foster a culture of accountability and transparency, and make KAFU a better institution,” said Prof. Mwita.

The workshop was facilitated by officials from the National Productivity and Competitiveness Center (NPCC), under the State Department for Labour and Skills Development. The facilitators included Mr. Miano Kariuki, Mr. Eric Wamwega, and Mr. Titus Wekesa.

In his presentation, Mr. Kariuki emphasized the importance of data-driven productivity management. He noted that ineffective decision-making in institutions often stems from insufficient or inaccurate data. According to him, leadership and resource availability are two critical drivers of productivity.

He further observed that many institutions of higher learning currently operate at low to moderate productivity levels but expressed optimism for improvement. He urged participants to take ownership and adopt productivity management as an essential tool for institutional accountability.

“Managers must understand that accurate measurement is crucial for improving productivity. It reflects the organization's current standing and highlights gaps in the value stream that need to be addressed,” Mr. Kariuki stated.
