Student representatives from the Kaimosi Friends University Student Association (KAFUSA) convened today at the Tom Mboya Labour College for a crucial three-day workshop to review and strengthen their governing rules.

In his opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita recognized the dedication and commitment of the student leaders, and he emphasized the trust placed in them by the entire student body. He urged the student leaders to prioritize the collective good and use the constitution as a guide for making well-informed decisions.
He also encouraged them to uphold the principles outlined in Chapter 6 of Kenya's constitution, particularly integrity and accountability, as they consider amendments. Looking into the future, Prof. Mwita suggested that the leaders should adopt electronic voting system and have adequate preparation to ensure a smooth transition.
Prof. Mwita challenged student leaders to be innovative in finding better ways for the association to generate funds, as innovation drives progress. He also encouraged them to engage in community outreach programmes that will benefit the neighboring community.

"I encourage you to think globally and act locally as you revise this constitution, ensure that you participate in outreach programs to promote yourselves and be excellent representatives of Kaimosi Friends University." Prof. Mwita said.
The acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics, Student Affairs, and Research, Prof. Julius Kipkemboi echoed the sentiments of the vice chancellor and emphasized that the critical role of the constitution in promoting national unity.

He added that with the constitution in place, it will foster discipline, purpose, and a sense of togetherness, which he described as the foundation for peace and prosperity in a productive nation. The workshop indicate the commitment by the university management to supporting the student council to in enhancing stronger leadership capacity, and create greater mutual understanding between the student association and university management, ultimately benefiting the entire student body
