Kaimosi Friends University Public Complaints Committee Undertakes Intensive Training to Enhance Complaint Management

Kaimosi Friends University’s Public Complaints Committee has completed an in-depth three-day training program aimed at enhancing its capacity to manage and resolve public complaints effectively. The training, which took place at Tom Mboya Labour College, focused on a variety of critical aspects of complaints handling, administrative justice, and service delivery improvement.

The training was conducted by the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), the office of the Ombudsman covered areas such as the management and resolution of public complaints, the development of effective complaints handling mechanisms, and alternative dispute resolution techniques.

The training sessions also provided insights into performance measures under Kenya’s Performance Contracting framework, specifically related to the Resolution of Public Complaints Indicator.

The training also focused on practical strategies for implementing the complaints resolution process and evaluating its success, which is a key element of the university’s broader performance contracting obligations.

Dr. Remmy Shiundu, Chairman of the Public Complaints Committee, emphasized the importance of the training in strengthening the committee’s operations. He expressed his appreciation for the support of the university’s management and thanked Mr. Likalo and the CAJ team for their thorough and insightful facilitation the in-depth training which is expected to significantly improve the committee’s complaint handling processes.

“This training is crucial in our ongoing efforts to enforce administrative justice and ensure that all stakeholders have access to timely and transparent information. By improving our complaints management systems, we are advancing the university’s commitment to efficient and effective service delivery,” said Dr. Shiundu.

 “With the knowledge gained from this training, we are now in a stronger position to resolve complaints more efficiently and improve our service delivery,” he added.

The Public Complaints Committee’s role is integral to ensuring transparency, accountability, and fairness within Kaimosi Friends University. The committee is now better equipped to address the concerns of students, staff, and the public, ensuring that complaints are resolved in a timely and just manner.

This aligns with the university’s mission to provide accessible information, uphold the rights of its stakeholders, and foster an environment of administrative justice. The completion of this training marks a significant milestone in the committee’s efforts to enhance its impact and ensure the university’s continued commitment to high standards of service delivery.
