Mr. Bonface Jiveri, a distinguished Graduate Research Assistant at Kaimosi Friends University was awarded the esteemed Emerging Start-up of the Year Award at the Kenya Innovation Week (KIW) 2024-Africa Edition Awards, under the theme “Re-imagining Africa’s future: Kenya’s Innovation Spark.”
The Kenya Innovation Week (KIW) is a major annual event organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports through the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA), to nurture an innovation ecosystem in Kenya. It brings together key players in the innovation sector to discuss, celebrate, and advance Kenya's innovation ecology. This network plays a crucial role in creating jobs, boosting the economy, and improving Kenya's global competitiveness.
The KIW 2024 ceremony held from 25th - 29th November, 2024 at the Edge Convention Center, Nairobi took on a Pan-African focus, aiming at strengthening the innovation atmosphere across the continent. The event delved into solutions for pressing African challenges, such as economic growth and quality of life. By inspiring and engaging young African innovators, KIW 2024 sought to drive Africa's economic development and position it as a global leader in innovation.
This award recognizes Mr. Jiveri’s exceptional contribution to cutting-edge research and innovation. His project, which set out to deliver bio-alkanol gel fuel as a renewable energy source to rural households in the Lake Victoria basin of Kenya, and Kagera transboundary basin of Uganda and Tanzania, underscores KAFU’s potential in fostering a vibrant innovation ecosystem.
Mr. Jiveri's recognition with this award solidifies KAFU's position as fast growing global beacon of research, innovation and academic excellence.
