KAFU Signs CBA with KUDHEIHA Staff

On July 5th, 2024, Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) formalized a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA) at the University’s Governor’s Hall. The event was graced by council member Dr. Fauzia Karama, Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administration, Finance, and Development (DVC AF&D) Prof. M. Amadalo, Registrar of Administration Dr. Patrick Agesa, and key union representatives including Secretary General Mr. Albert Njeru, Branch Secretary Mr. Thomas Mboya, and Shop Steward Mr. Robert Orieddoh, among others.

Dr. Fauzia Karama, representing the university council, highlighted the importance of the CBA in fostering collaboration between KAFU and KUDHEIHA. She emphasized that KAFU, as an educational institution, offers a platform for academic advancement and encouraged both union members and university staff to pursue further education and professional development.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter N. Mwita described the CBA as a pillar of harmony and a motivator for the University staff. He expressed his commitment to the effective implementation of the agreement and noted KAFU's pride in establishing an independent negotiation platform. The 2017-2021 CBA, he explained, is designed to prioritize staff welfare and reflects the University's dedication to its employees.

KUDHEIHA Secretary General Mr. Albert Njeru recognized KAFU as a significant institution characterized by productive dialogue. He assured that the union will ensure staff members are well-informed about the CBA's contents. Mr. Njeru praised the collaboration with KAFU and expressed optimism about enhancing staff welfare through this agreement.
