KAIMOSI FRIENDS UNIVERSITY STRENGTHENS COLLABORATIONS WITH THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF VIHIGA

In a landmark ceremony officiated by the Governor of Vihiga County, H.E. Hon. Wilber Ottichilo, Kaimosi Friends University and the County Government of Vihiga strengthened collaborations by entering into two Memoranda of Understanding to promote healthcare systems: One MoU between the University and the County Government of Vihiga and the other with Vihiga County Teaching and Referral Hospital.

While officiating the signing ceremony, Governor Otichillo expressed his strong commitment to the implementation of the MoUs, advocating for the formation of a dedicated follow-up committee. He highlighted the symbiotic nature of the agreements, emphasizing their potential to transform the healthcare system in Vihiga County. The collaboration will provide KAFU students, particularly those from the School of Health Sciences, with crucial industrial attachments and internship opportunities. “These MoUs represent a great milestone and should be implemented as soon as possible,” remarked Governor Otichillo. “They will significantly enhance the healthcare system in Vihiga County and benefit our students immensely.”

Kaimosi Friends University Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mwita, who signed the collaborations instruments on behalf of the University underscored the potencies of the MoUs, noting that the partnerships are significant in the promotion of quality healthcare through capacity building. He reiterated that as KAFU strives to become a world-class university, these agreements will boost its teaching, research, and community service initiatives. He further said MoUs will enable KAFU to increase student enrollment by offering practical training opportunities at Vihiga County Teaching and Referral Hospital. Prof. Mwita also emphasized the positive impact on the local community through enhanced healthcare services.

Present during the ceremony were the Deputy Governor Hon Wilber Kitiezo. County Executive Committee Health, The DVCASAR Prof. Julius Kipkemboi among other dignitaries.

Kaimosi Friends University and the County Government of Vihiga have long standing warm relations since the inception of the former. Through this the University and County have worked together for mutual benefit of the communities and the nation.
