KAFU Strategic Plan 2023-2027 Launched

 


 Wednesday 26th June, 2024 – Kaimosi Friends University has launched a visionary five-year strategic plan; Kaimosi Friends University Strategic plan 2023-2027. The plan is aimed at establishing the University as a world-class institution renowned for excellence in teaching, research, and community

The Chairperson of Council Dr. Bernadette Mungai who presided over the launch at the University’s Assembly Hall, said the plan takes into account issues impacting university education, and which call for immediate reforms among them; climate change, internationalization, and digital space utilization.

On matters pedagogy, Dr. Mungai pointed out that the Plan emphasizes student-focused educational approaches, interdisciplinary studies, fostering cross-disciplinary research and learning. Additionally, the university, through the plan, aims to enhance digital literacy and technology integration, equipping students with essential digital skills. The plan also prioritizes internationalization, preparing graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary for global socio-economic development.

The acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter N. Mwita, in his remarks, highlighted the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan as a crucial management tool designed to enhance the University’s performance in its core mandates.

"The Plan will enable us to realize our vision and mission, anchoring the success of Kaimosi Friends University on a robust blueprint," Prof. Mwita stated.
Prof. Mwita emphasized that the Strategic Plan aligns with key national and international priorities, including: Kenya's MTP IV and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda; Kenya Vision 2030; African Union Agenda 2063; and United Nations 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals

The plan focuses on three main critical areas: enhancing facilities for teaching, learning, and research to improve the experience for students and staff; ensuring adherence to relevant standards and guidelines for quality maintenance and compliance; and establishing a strong brand anchored in excellence.

The implementation of the plan, estimated to cost KES 5 billion, involves: Collaborating with development partners, philanthropists, and industry players; creating endowment and trust funds, research parks, and public-private partnerships; building a robust alumni network and establishing a resource mobilization and partnership team.
