KAFU Invests on Training of New Process Owners on ISO 9001:2015

Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) has reinforced its dedication to maintaining high standards through a comprehensive two-day induction and training workshop focused on the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS).

The intensive program, held on May 10th and 11th, 2025, at the Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu, was specifically designed to equip the university's twenty-two newly appointed process owners with a thorough understanding of the international QMS requirements

University management underscored the critical importance of the training. Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita addressed the issue of process duplication within KAFU, stating that this training is further emphasized the workshop's role in facilitating.

"This training is crucial for improving operational efficiency and service deliver in our university by enhancing document reviews, leading to improved efficiency in the QMS." Said Prof Mwita.

Echoing this sentiment, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration, Finance, Planning and Development - AFPD) Prof Thomas Kipkurgat informed the members of staff that a robust quality management system is essential for any operating university. He deemed the training timely, especially considering the anticipated growth in staff and student numbers.

Dr. Fozia Nurwin, the Director of Quality Assurance and Management Systems (QA&MS), highlighted the significance of the initiative in her opening remarks. She acknowledged the importance of integrating new staff and process owners into the University's QMS and emphasized the training's critical role in ensuring continuous quality compliance across all university processes.

Closing remarks from the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Student Affairs and Research Prof. Julius Kipkemboi indicated that the training was well-received and highly engaging. Participants reportedly gained practical tools and strategies directly applicable to their respective roles.
