Following a week-long commemoration of International Nurse’s Week, today the Department of Nursing at Kaimosi Friends University culminated its activities with a grand finale event. The celebration, attended by faculty members and student nurses, served as a tribute to the vital role nurses play in healthcare systems.

The Chair of the Department and guest speaker Dr. Anne Asiko, emphasized that the annual observance transcends a mere date, recognizing nurses as the "soul of healthcare." She passionately advocated for improved policies and systems to uphold the dignity of nurses globally, highlighting the profession's enduring importance.
Addressing the student nurses, Dr. Asiko urged them to embrace nursing as a calling grounded in compassion, integrity, and responsibility. She underscored the core values of caring, respect, ethical conduct, and accountability, linking their future practice to national values of patriotism and service. Dr. Asiko also stressed the importance of self-care to combat mental health challenges within the profession, enabling them to effectively lead and transform lives.

Appreciation was also extended to Kaimosi Friends University for its ongoing support of nursing education.
The event concluded with an award ceremony recognizing exemplary student nurses for their leadership in the classroom and clinical settings, as well as their academic achievements, showcasing the caliber of nurses produced by the university.
