Irine Nanzala Lumatete, CPA, CS, is the finance officer of Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU). While at KAFU, she has ensured financial stability of the university through efficient utilization of financial resources and assets and instilling proper internal controls; efficiency of operations through recommendation for acquisition of an ERP system; process owner for the Finance Department Quality Management System processes and procedures as per ISO 9001:2015 Standard and QMS internal auditor; and a member of the Kaimosi Friends University 2018-2023 Strategic Plan Development Committee. She undertakes training at the diploma, undergraduate, and professional/short course levels. This has enabled her to gain a deeper understanding of the academic regulatory environment in the country.

Irine is a seasoned public finance management professional with over 17 years’ experience in the public sector, 12 of which are from institutions of higher learning. The experience gathered both as a financial expert and an academician has helped in understanding the dynamisms in the labour market/industry, hence the need for market-driven programs at both the technical and university level. Irine is also a TAPEF mentor for trainee accountants affiliated with the ICPAK Western Branch.

Irine is a member of ICPAK (No. 16901), the Institute of Internal Auditors (No. 1372818), and Certified Secretaries (CS). She holds a Bachelor of Commerce—Accounting Option, University of Nairobi (UoN), a Master of Business Administration—Finance Option, University of Nairobi (UoN), and is a PhD student at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. She is a Certified Trustee of Kenya and sits on the Board of Trustees of Kaimosi Friends University Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme, where she is the Chairperson of the Finance and Investment Committee of the Board. She is also a board member and chair of the Finance, Strategy, and Infrastructure Committee at Ebukanga Technical and Vocational College, a public TVET institution in Kenya.

She has also trained on the Strategic Leadership Development Programme and the Senior Management course, both from the Kenya School of Government (KSG).
