Kaimosi Friends University excelled in the Kenya University Sports Federation (Western) Conference sporting activities held in Maseno and Rongo Universities in September and October 2024. KAFU’s sportsmen and women flew its flag high after garnering a total of 9 trophies across various co-curricular activities.

This outstanding performance is attributed to the teams’ discipline and passion for excellence. The medals were presented to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter N. Mwita together with University Management headed by the Games Tutor, Mr. Joseph Sandagi alongside the individual team captains on October 15, 2024.

Receiving the awards during the presentation ceremony, Prof. Mwita applauded the teams for their exemplary performance affirming the University Management’s commitment to supporting them.

“Our University is keen on fostering talents and encouraging students to pursue their abilities. I assure you that as Management, we shall look into the concerns and challenges that you have raised to ensure that you continue soaring,” Prof. Mwita stated.

Echoing the Acting Vice Chancellor, the Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Student Affairs and Research, Prof. Julius Kipkemboi congratulated the teams’ exceptional performance. He cheered them to continue pursuing and building their sports careers.

“Your participation and shining in such activities offers the University a promotion platform which can earn us global recognition. I encourage you to put in more effort and train harder for the next seasons,” said Prof. Kipkemboi.

The Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Finance, Planning and Development Prof. Maurice Amadalo appreciated the teams for showcasing their games prowess during the tournament.

“We are elated to have emerged victorious during the competitions and we recognize you for bringing home these stunning awards from different categories we took part in. We look forward to more winnings,” he said.

Remarkably, the Games Tutor, Mr. Joseph Sandagi noted that 6 students who did a class 3C FKF Referees Examination on October 13, 2024 excelled. He underscored the need for setting up more playgrounds for various teams and upgrading the existing university sports fields to FIFA levels.

“We note that our student numbers are increasing. The available playgrounds cannot effectively accommodate sporting needs of the swelling student numbers,” Mr. Sandagi stated.

KAFU took part in a number of games including Frisbee, Rugby, Tennis, Table Tennis, Karate and Tae Kwondo during the tournament.
