Kaimosi Friends University reaffirmed its commitment to the Friends Church by participating in the church’s 79th annual general conference held at Senende Secondary School between 14th August and 18th August 2024. Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Peter N. Mwita, represented the university, emphasizing the institution's deep-rooted connection to the church.
In a speech delivered by Senior Assistant Registrar Dr. Wycliffe Amukowa, the Vice Chancellor lauded the Friends Church's pivotal role in shaping Kenya's educational landscape. He highlighted the church's historical contribution to education, tracing the evolution of universities from church-affiliated institutions. Professor Mwita expressed gratitude for the church's donation of land, which laid the foundation for Kaimosi Friends University.
Beyond acknowledging the church's role in education, the Vice Chancellor also underscored the importance of Christian fellowship. He emphasized the spiritual benefits of gathering for worship, instruction, and community building.
Taking advantage of the platform, the university provided attendees with an overview of the new university funding model (NFM). The presentation aimed to clarify the differences between the old and new funding systems, the application process, and address common inquiries.
The Friends Church's 2024 Yearly Meeting once again showcased the church's dedication to education and community development. The event served as a valuable opportunity for Kaimosi Friends University to strengthen its bond with the church and inform the public about the new funding model.
