Kaimosi Friends University will this month hold its 2nd National Virtual Conference. The event is slated for May 13th and 14th.
This is a forum for participants, staff, invited guests and friends of the conference to disseminate, interrogate, refine ideas, perspectives and approaches with a view to creating new knowledge in order to remain at the cutting edge of research.
This is an opportunity to interact and forge sustainable research networks and collaboration across institutions thereby boosting the national government research agenda as stipulated in the national as well as the KAFU Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) Strategies.
Both the KAFU Management Board and Senate, through the Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita and the head of academic division Prof. Julius Kipkemboi, have made a firm commitment to bolster research and innovation at KAFU going forward because these form a critical component of our core mandate. This institutional resoluteness resonates well with our theme this year which is “redefining innovative knowledge and skills for rapid development in the digital era”
This year’s conference has attracted 70 papers spread across 8 sub-thematic areas. Due to joint authorship, we have 101 focal participants drawn from 29 different universities while the expected total attendance is projected at 150. Among the participants, we will be hosting 8 Professors, 35 Ph.D holders and a substantial number of advanced postgraduate students to be mentored. This is a rich mix of participants and we expect the presentations to generate constructive debates that can shape the academic discourse around the main theme and sub-thematic subjects. This also marks a positive development as compared to our achievements in 2023.
This year, we also expect the Director General NACOSTI and the CEO of National Research Fund to grace our opening ceremony as invited guests.
The KAFU Conference Organizing Committee chaired by the Director of Research Prof. Benson Ojwang’ has put everything in place to ensure an effective and efficient process. The event will be conducted online on the highly versatile and accommodative Big
Blue Button platform that was developed by KENET to support online learner management systems. The proceedings will also be streamed live on our Facebook page and availed on our YouTube channel concurrently for you to follow us at your convenience.
We salute all those who have joined us in making this conference a success.
WELCOME AND ENJOY THE CONFERENCE
