Kaimosi Friends University officially inaugurated Prof. Fred Anangwe Amimo as its new substantive Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic, Student Affairs, and Research on Friday, 13th June, 2025. The colourful and dignified ceremony, held at the Assembly Hall grounds, also served as an occasion to laud the exemplary service of the outgoing acting DVC, Prof. Julius Kipkemboi.
Prof. Fred Amimo shares his vision for the future as he addresses the Kaimosi Friends University community during his inauguration as the new DVC (Academic, Student Affairs, and Research).
Dr. Bernadette Mungai, the Chair of the University Council, presided over the event, hailing it as a "momentous occasion" for KAFU. She commended Prof. Amimo's appointment, highlighting that he has an impeccable academic record, proven leadership, and unwavering commitment to the development of higher education in Kenya and beyond.
“Your selection is a reflection of your impeccable academic record, proven leadership, and unwavering commitment to the development of higher education in Kenya and beyond, we are confident that you will bring renewed energy, strategic insight, and scholarly depth to this important portfolio.” she said.
Beyond welcoming the new DVC, the ceremony was equally dedicated to acknowledging Prof. Kipkemboi's invaluable contributions. Dr. Mungai paid heartfelt tribute to his leadership during the interim period, noting that he held the office with "honour and integrity."

“Prof. Kipkemboi stewardship provided stability, consistency, and care in times that required both academic leadership and compassion and I urge the entire university community to rally behind Prof. Amimo and build upon the solid foundation laid by his predecessor." she stated.
Prof. Mwita praised the appointment process as a model of transparency and meritocracy.
“I wish to thank the University Council for overseeing a thorough, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process,” he said.
Echoing the sentiments expressed by Dr. Mungai, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita took to the podium to further emphasize the profound significance of this leadership transition for Kaimosi Friends University. The Vice Chancellor acknowledge the change and he underscored its importance as a pivotal moment in the institution's ongoing development.
