Kaimosi Friends University has made a significant impact at the African Public Service Day (APSD) 2025 celebrations at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), showcasing three innovative projects developed by its researchers.
Proud to see our student Leader miss Lucy Mbugua passionately explaining Kaimosi Friends University's impactful research.
The university's exhibits align with the APSD theme, "Enhancing the agility and resilience of public institutions to achieve equitable governance and rapidly address historical service delivery gaps." KAFU's presence underscores its commitment to practical solutions for societal challenges.
Among the standout innovations is Biogel Fuel, an economical and renewable biofuel derived from fruit peelings and eggshells. KAFU students demonstrating the project highlighted its potential to provide accessible energy for rural communities, reducing reliance on traditional, more expensive fuels.
Another key exhibit is Bio Pads, sustainable and biodegradable sanitary pads made from sugarcane bagasse and Plectranthus barbatus leaves. Students explained how these pads address critical issues of affordability and accessibility for vulnerable rural women and girls, promoting hygiene while being environmentally friendly.
Future innovators in action! Olkejuado High School students at the Kaimosi Friends University stand, learning about impactful research like Bio-Pads and Bio-Alkanol Gel Fuel.
Finally, KAFU presented Mosquito Repellent Candles, an innovative solution against malaria. These candles, developed using orange fruit peels containing natural D-limonene, offer a safe and accessible method for mosquito control. Students cited research confirming the repellent's effectiveness.
The university's booth has emerged as a focal point, demonstrating its vital role in contributing to Africa's development through impactful research and student-led initiatives.
