Kaimosi Friends University has officially ushered in a new era of leadership following the formal handover from outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC), Prof. Julius Kipkemboi to Prof. Fred Amimo. The transition marks a key milestone in the institution’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, research, and community service.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita extended his appreciation to Prof. Kipkemboi, lauding his contributions to the university’s growth in academic research, programme expansion, and staff welfare.

"A lot of achievements have been made in academic research and community service. We have expanded strategically and we are strategic in expanding our academic programmes. We also recognize the critical importance of supporting our staff welfare, and we recognize the efforts of our long-serving personnel,” Prof. Mwita said.
The Vice Chancellor welcomed Prof. Amimo to the management team, expressing confidence in his ability to advance the university’s vision in academic affairs and research. He was confident that having previously worked as the Dean, Chair of Department, and now as DVC, he will help elevate the university to new heights.
Prof. Kipkemboi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Kaimosi Friends University family for their support during his tenure adding that the university anticipates significant growth, especially in student enrollment.
“It has been a great experience working at Kaimosi Friends University, I have worked with a great team and I have witnessed significant growth especially with student enrolment. I am confident with the appointment of Prof. Amimo as substantive DVC he will carry on the mantle to another level. I wish the university all the best as it focus to be a world class university” Said Prof. Kipkemboi

Newly appointed DVC, Prof. Fred Amimo, appreciated Prof. Kipkemboi and also congratulated Prof. Mwita on his formal appointment as the substantive Vice-Chancellor and assured the university community of his readiness to serve. He confirmed that he had been fully briefed and had met with deans and university committees as part of the transition process.
“I am ready and looking forward to working closely with the management team and the entire staff to build on the foundation laid by Prof. Kipkemboi. Together, we will steer Kaimosi Friends University to greater heights,” Prof. Amino affirmed.
The leadership change signals a new chapter for the institution, with high expectations for continued growth and innovation in higher education.

Earlier the Prof. Kipkemboi had officially handed over the chairmanship of the Deans Committee to Prof. Amimo Fred, and during the meeting Prof. Kipkemboi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Vice chancellor Prof. Mwita and the University Management Board for giving him the opportunity to serve in the core mandate division, noting that he was appreciative of his tenure.
He also thanked the Deans’ committee members, Dean of students, university librarian, senior assistant registrar academics, directors to different directorates who have been a driving force in the success of the academic division.
“The academic divisions success has been spearheaded by your unwavering support, dedication and commitment. The milestones we have achieved over the years are a clear result of your hard work. Despite the challenges faced, you have worked together with me to resolve the arising issues”, he mentioned.
Prof. Kipkemboi urged the members present to collaborate with the incoming chair, prof. Amimo. He noted that KAFU has many opportunities to excel in teaching and research and that could only be achieved through their continued support to the division. He wished Prof. Amimo the best of luck and success as he prepares to take over as the new head of division.

In his address, Prof. Amimo acknowledged the significant role played by his predecessor Prof. Kipkemboi in shaping the academic field and research at KAFU. He added that he was willing to be part of the KAFU culture urging members to embrace the values of simplicity, peace, equality and stewardship and inculcate them in teaching and research, relating with students, staff and stakeholders.
“You have laid a great and solid foundation and your contribution has been vital in the success of the university’s academic division, I also appreciate all the members for the roles you have played in ensuring the university grows to another level, am looking forward to working with you,” he stated.
On matters research, Prof. Amimo noted that research is a noble course and he was willing to support a vibrant research culture, mentioning that the institution was in one of the best strategic locations (the tropical rainforest) that could support several research activities. His final appeal to the members was for them to work collaboratively and make the university better.
