Kaimosi Friends University today held a comprehensive sensitization session for its staff on national cohesion, national values, and the principles of governance. The training, aimed at mainstreaming these key principles in the public service, was conducted by the Directorate of National Cohesion and Values.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration, Finance, Planning, and Development, Prof. Thomas Kipkurgat, represented the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mwita, at the event. In his remarks, Prof. Kipkurgat affirmed that the university’s management and council are fully committed to promoting national values as part of the performance contract.
"As we move to be a world-class university of excellence in teaching, research and community service, we are committed to enhancing values and principles that will make Kaimosi Friends University great. We foster an environment where everyone is included and embraced as we work towards realizing our vision," said Prof. Kipkurgat.
"It is essential that all our members of staff embrace the university's values as they play a key role in shaping the future of our institution and the development of our students," Prof. Kipkemboi stated.
Mr. Shadrack Odeny, the Principal Cohesion Officer, led the session, emphasizing the importance of integrating national values and principles into public service practices. The event was a crucial step in enhancing the university's commitment to fostering a culture of unity and governance excellence in line with national directives.
In his remarks, Mr. Odeny highlighted the significance of embedding these values into the day-to-day activities of public servants, especially those in academic institutions like Kaimosi Friends University.
“National cohesion and governance principles are not just abstract concepts; they are practical tools that, when implemented correctly, can enhance the functionality of our public institutions and foster unity and progress. This sensitization is an opportunity for staff to understand how these principles directly contribute to a positive work environment and, ultimately, the success of our society,” Odeny explained.
The Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Research, Prof. Julius Kipkemboi, also addressed the staff during the event, urging them to uphold the university’s core values. He stressed that these values are vital in shaping not only the future of the institution but also the futures of its students.
The sensitization session reflects Kaimosi Friends University’s ongoing efforts to integrate national values into its operations and cultivate an inclusive and cohesive environment for both staff and students. As the university continues to work toward its vision, the commitment to national cohesion and governance principles remains a cornerstone of its institutional objectives.
