The University showcased remarkable talent and sportsmanship at the Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) National Playoffs held at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) on February 22nd and 23rd, 2025. The event brought together student-athletes from nearly 30 universities across the country, competing in a variety of disciplines.

KAFU was proudly represented in rugby (men & women), badminton (women), table tennis, swimming, and the Baseball 5 demonstration. The University’s teams displayed unwavering dedication and enthusiasm throughout the competition, gaining invaluable experience on the national stage

Despite facing strong opponents, KAFU’s athletes exhibited commendable skill and resilience, demonstrating significant improvement in their respective disciplines, with newly established rugby teams emerging fourth and fifth respectively. Their performance is a testament to the University’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of sports excellence.

Other sporting events featured during the playoffs included woodball, chess, scrabble, karate, taekwondo, basketball, and rollball. These games provided a platform for students to not only compete but also interact and learn from their peers across various institutions.

The University administration commended the student-athletes for their dedication, highlighting the importance of sports in fostering teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. “Participation in such high-level competitions helps our students develop both physically and mentally, preparing them for future sporting engagements,” said Head of Games and SportsMr. Joseph Sandagi.

KAFU remains committed to supporting its sports teams and is optimistic about future competitions. The experience gained at the KUSF Playoffs will serve as motivation for the teams to sharpen their skills and aim for even greater achievements in upcoming events.
