KAFU STUDENT GOVERNING COUNCIL INDUCTED

In a landmark event at Kaimosi Friends University, the newly elected Student Governing Council underwent comprehensive induction training at the serene surroundings of Nibbana Garden Hotel in Eldoret. The training, marked by a sense of enthusiasm and commitment, was graced by esteemed university officials, including the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Peter Mwita, and the acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs (ASAR), Prof Julius Kipkemboi.

The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the student leaders gathered to embark on a journey of learning and preparation for their crucial roles ahead. At the training, several other key university officers lent their expertise to the proceedings. Among them were the Finance Officer, University Legal Officer, Security Officer, head of the university health clinic, Dean of Students, and the official overseeing games and sports affairs.

Addressing the assembled student council members, Prof Mwita delivered a poignant message emphasizing the significance of offering quality leadership to the student body. He stressed the importance of fostering open dialogue with various university organs and cautioned against engaging in confrontational politics, highlighting the need for constructive engagement and collaboration.

The training covered a wide array of topics essential for effective leadership and governance within the university community. From understanding academic responsibility and leadership to exploring different leadership styles and the qualities of an effective leader, the sessions provided valuable insights into the multifaceted nature of student governance.

Furthermore, the council members delved into practical aspects such as the management of Kaimosi Friends Students Association (KAFUSA) finances and the operation of the students' business center. Discussions also centered on promoting a healthy campus environment, understanding KAFUSA rules and regulations, and familiarizing themselves with the constitution governing the student body.

With security being a paramount concern on campus, particular attention was dedicated to strategies for ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. The training underscored the indispensable role of student leaders in fostering a secure and inclusive campus environment conducive to academic excellence and personal growth.

As the induction training concluded, the newly equipped Student Governing Council members expressed their determination to uphold the principles of integrity, accountability, and service as they embark on their leadership journey. With the guidance and support of university officials, they stand ready to champion the interests of their fellow students and contribute meaningfully to the vibrant tapestry of university life at Kaimosi Friends University.
