KAFUCO CULTURAL FESTIVAL KICKS OFF TO A COLOURFUL DISPLAY

The Fourth annual KAFUCO cultural festivalTamasha has kicked off on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 on a high note, with Vihiga Governor His Excellency Dr Wilber Ottichilo presiding over the launch

 

Opening addresses were preceded by colourful talent display from various students’ groups, including multicultural dance renditions by Literature students, a show basic defense and attack moves by the martial arts club, drama and modern dance.


The Governor also ceremoniously kicked off the sporting activities which will see various outdoor and indoor competitions culminate in the awarding of winners.
The three-day multidiscipline event themed: Embracing Culture and Technology in the Covid-19 era, will be a blend of colourful, entertaining, educative and energizing activities all geared at celebrating cultural diversity in the face of disruptions presented by advancement in technology.
A beauty pageant, in which Mr and Miss KAFUCO will be unveiled, will crown the celebration on Friday night.

In his address, the Governor noted that whereas technology had continually disrupted culture and threatened how culture is maintained and preserved, efforts, including establishment of line Government agencies were bearing fruit.


He said the university was a melting pot for promotion and preservation of culture, which result in improved national cohesion and integration, thus national peace and development.
The Principal, Prof Ogodo, M.J Nandi said the annual cultural festival was a testament to the commitment of the University College to its holistic development objective of the Vision to be a University of Excellence in Teaching, Learning, Research, Innovation and Holistic Development.


He said the University was committed to nurturing and promoting talent as part of student engagement.
