KAFU Concludes Three-day training workshop to drive efficiency and accountability

The Productivity Mainstreaming Committee of Kaimosi Friends University chaired by Dr. Samuel Apima has today successfully concluded a three-day Productivity Improvement Programme workshop that commenced on 20th September, 2025 at the Kisumu Hotel (Maseno University)

The main goal of the workshop was to help KAFU move beyond mere measurement into adopting strategies and implementing counter-measures to help address critical areas identified as performing below average in the baseline report for the financial year 2024/2025.

Facilitating the Programme was Director Boniface Miano Kariuki (National Productivity and Competitiveness Centre-NPCC). He underscored the importance of productivity improvement in enhancing transparency, accountability, labor performance and customer service delivery.

Mr. Miano elaborated on the concept of data management as a key tool in productivity measurement in enabling institutions make informed decisions. He further emphasized the need for effective data collection and analysis, highlighting mechanisms for real-time verification of primary data.

Attending the workshop was the Vice chancellor Prof. Mwita who lauded the Productivity Mainstreaming Committee for its unwavering dedication in spearheading the institutions productivity efforts.

“Kaimosi Friends University looks forward to the stewardship of this committee in achieving optimal service delivery and resource utilization, this would support the university meet its strategic goals and objectives”, he stated.

Echoing Mr. Maino’s sentiments, Prof. Mwita further emphasized that the objective of productivity mainstreaming is not only to meet set targets but also to instill a culture of transparency and accountability within KAFU. He therefore urged on the need to cascade the information to other process owners who are at the heart of implementation.

Prof. Mwita’s final call was on addressing gaps in the data collection process, stressing on the urgency of conducting capacity building among the data collection champions. He recognized that they play a critical role in productivity measurement and assured that the top management will always step in to support them.

The workshop demonstrates KAFU’s management ongoing commitment to advancing its productivity mainstreaming strategy positioning the university as a world class institution in teaching, research and innovation.
