Kaimosi Friends University has changed the terms of service for 94 members of the administrative staff from fixed contract to permanent and pensionable, enhancing staff development and setting ground for improved service delivery..
The change of terms follows rigorous internal recruitment process which saw the various positions advertised and candidates subjected to panel interviews.
And on February 4, 2022 the staff members picked their appointment letters amidst calls for higher performance from the University Council and Management.
In his address, the Principal Prof. Ogodo M.J. Nandi called on the officers to “now show leadership in your areas of operation and add value to our Mission and Vision.”
He also challenged the staff to upskill through further and broad education and training to enhance their employability amidst global shifts in the employment industry and dropping Government capitation to universities.
His keynote address followed similar rallying calls by other members of the University Management who addressed the staff as they signed the principles of conduct and ethics and picked their letters.
The Deputy Principal (Finance and Development) Prof. Maurice Amadalo stressed on the importance of integrity, professionalism and general compliance with the KAFU code of conduct and ethics.
Prof. Julius Kipkemboi (Academic and Student Affairs) called for synergy between the teaching and non-teaching staff, reflection on the Mission and respect for our core values.
The Deputy Finance Officer, CPA Irene Lumatete made an eye-opening presentation on personal finance management; educating staff on essential elements such as budgeting, savings and investments.
Her presentation was preceded by a talk on change management delivered by the head of Strategic Planning Dr Emily Okwemba. Before this, the Legal Officer Linnet Mayavi spoke to the Human Resource policies and their legal implications.
This wind of change comes at a time when the KAFU is laying the ground for ISO 9001:2015 certification which seeks to strengthen service delivery. As such, the Director of Quality Assurance Management Dr. Jane Imbunya used the platform to rally for implementation of the recently developed standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency in service delivery. SOPs provide the policies, processes and standards needed for the organization to succeed.
