Productivity at the Core: KAFU Equips Staff with Skills to Drive Institutional Excellence
Committee Members and Champions of the Kaimosi Friends University Productivity Mainstreaming Committee led by the chairman Dr. Samwel Apima have today 17th May, 2026 concluded a three-day workshop on Productivity Management and Competitiveness aimed at strengthening the institution’s efficiency and enhancing organizational performance.
The objective of the engagement was to validate data for the institution’s respective productivity metrics and compute the Productivity Index for the Financial Year 2025/2026. The workshop further sought to strengthen the capacity of committee members in productivity management and data-driven institutional assessment.
Facilitating the workshop were experts from the National Productivity and Competitiveness Center (NPCC), led by Director Boniface Miano Kariuki. He underscored the importance of productivity, noting that it should not be treated merely as a performance contracting target, but rather as a strategic tool for continuous improvement capable of placing Kaimosi Friends University at a competitive edge.

He further emphasized the significance of data collection, verification and analysis in productivity management. He acknowledged institutions could only make informed decisions through credible data collection and analysis. He also noted that effective data analysis facilitates the identification of areas requiring improvement, supports corrective action and ensures sustained institutional performance.
Also in attendance was the Deputy Vice Chancellor Adminiostration, Finance and Planning Prof. Thomas Kipkurgat and Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Student Affairs and Research Prof. Fred Amimo. In his remarks, Prof. Amimo reiterated that productivity should remain at the core of all University operations. He challenged participants to leverage the knowledge and insights acquired during the training across all levels of the institution.

The workshop was officially closed by Prof. Kipkurgat on behalf of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita. Prof. Kipkurgat encouraged participants to embrace prudent utilization of institutional resources in order to achieve maximum productivity and enhance service delivery within the University.
He further encouraged members of staff to capitalize on improving productivity in order to attract more learners, strive towards providing quality student welfare services, embrace data collection to support informed decision-making, and work collectively towards realizing the University’s strategic objectives. Prof Kipkurgat further reaffirmed of the top management’s commitment to supporting productivity and performance initiative geared at making Kaimosi Friends University a better institution.
