Kaimosi Friends University today, 19th May 2026, hosted a delegation from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) led by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome for strategic discussions aimed at strengthening student placement, programme competitiveness and access to quality higher education.

The engagement brought together University Management, Senate and KUCCPS officials to deliberate on emerging trends in university admissions, demand-driven academic programmes and strategies for enhancing student enrollment and retention.
Speaking during the meeting, Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter N. Mwita said the University remains committed to positioning itself as a centre of excellence through innovation, quality teaching and expansion of academic opportunities.
“Kaimosi Friends University continues to strengthen its academic programmes, infrastructure and student support systems to ensure we produce competent and industry-ready graduates capable of transforming society,” said Prof. Mwita.

Staff members follow deliberations during the KUCCPS visit aimed at enhancing collaboration in student placement and higher education development at KAFU.
The Vice Chancellor further highlighted the University’s growth trajectory, noting that KAFU currently offers 48 programmes, with 23 undergraduate programmes accredited and several others undergoing accreditation by the Commission for University Education (CUE). He added that the University has continued to register improved student retention and completion rates while expanding access through initiatives such as Kobujoi Campus and the planned Vokoli College of Health Sciences.
KUCCPS CEO Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome commended the University for its steady growth and emphasis on market-responsive education, noting that universities must continuously align their programmes with emerging national and global demands.
“Institutions of higher learning have a critical responsibility of preparing students for a rapidly changing world. This can only be achieved through innovative, competitive and demand-driven academic programmes,” said Dr. Wahome.
She further encouraged universities to strengthen career outreach programmes, partnerships with schools and visibility initiatives aimed at creating awareness among prospective students on available academic opportunities.

The discussions also focused on the evolving trends in student placement, increasing interest in technical and health-related programmes and the importance of leveraging technology and Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) to widen access to university education.
The KUCCPS delegation also included Prof. John Oduor, Director of Placement and Career Services, and Mr. Felix Ruto from the ICT Support Department.
The engagement reaffirmed the strong partnership between KAFU and KUCCPS in advancing equitable access to higher education, enhancing institutional competitiveness and nurturing future-ready graduates equipped to contribute to national development.
