Stage set for KAFU College of Health Sciences at Vokoli

Today 9th April 2026, the Chairman of Council, Prof. Stanley Khainga and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mwita, met with the Transition Committee overseeing the establishment of the College of Health Science at Vokoli. The meeting reviewed the outcomes of the successful Public Participation exercise held on 27th March 2026 and deliberated on the proposed handover of the Vokoli infrastructure to Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU).

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of Council emphasized that the proposed College of Health Sciences will play a critical role in providing local solutions to healthcare challenges while advancing training in key medical fields.

“This initiative is a strategic investment for the future of our health sciences related programmes and as a Council we give our commitment to supporting the establishment of this college,” said Prof. Khainga

The Vice Chancellor commended the Transition Committee for its dedication and effective execution of the process, noting that their efforts have laid a strong foundation for the project’s success.

“As the management we are expediting the transition process and we are keen to provide accessible and quality health programmes,” stated Prof. Mwita.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita engages with members of the transition committee, assuring them of the Management’s commitment in fast-tracking the establishment of the College of health science at Vokoli.

Also present, the Chairperson of the Board of Management at Vokoli Girls High School, Indimuli Kahi, assured the Committee of the Board’s support in fast-tracking the transition process. He added that the move will unlock the potential of the multi-million Vokoli based infrastructure, which has remained underutilized for several years.

“This project will bring significant benefits including employment opportunities and scholarship prospects for local residents. The initiative fulfills long-held aspirations of the community,” said Mr. Kahi

Mr. Indimuli Kahi, the Chairman of the Board of Members at Vokoli Girls High School giving his remarks stating the Boards readiness in expediting the handing over process of the Vokoli infrastrucuture.

The meeting concluded with renewed commitment from both Kaimosi Friends University and Moi Girls Vokoli to fast-track the transition process and pave the way for the establishment of the College of Health Sciences at Vokoli. The planned College is expected to enhance KAFU’s growing footprint in Health Sciences Education and contribute meaningfully to the training of future healthcare professionals.
