School of Health Sciences

Message from The Dean

Established in 2022, the School of Health Sciences (SoHS) at Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) has quickly become a flagship institution in Western Kenya, distinguished by its unique and high-demand programs. Notably, it is one of only two institutions in the country offering Optometry up to the PhD level, alongside robust offerings in Nursing and Clinical Medicine. As a burgeoning regional hub, SoHS aims to expand into fields such as Pharmacy, Oral Health, and Basic Medical Sciences, fostering an environment of intellectual freedom and clinical excellence to produce industry-leading professionals.

Strategically positioned to combat the regional shortage of healthcare workers caused by brain drain and limited training capacity, KAFU is committed to bridging the manpower gap through aggressive industrial collaborations and innovative research. Within the next five years, the university seeks to solidify its status as a center of excellence in East and Central Africa by partnering with governments, hospitals, and NGOs. By integrating cultural diversity with practical clinical learning, KAFU-SoHS invites like-minded partners to join their mission of developing a sustainable, world-class healthcare workforce capable of meeting modern global demands.
