Kaimosi Friends University today Sunday 22nd February 2026 marked the First Sunday of the Lenten Season with a spiritually enriching Eucharistic celebration presided over by His Lordship Bishop Joseph Obanyi of the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega.

The Bishop was warmly received at the University by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance Planning and Development Prof. Thomas Kipkurgat alongside members of staff and students who joined in the solemn Lenten observance.
In his homily Bishop Obanyi called upon the faithful to embrace consecration prayer and sacrificial service during the Lenten season urging the University community especially young people to deepen their spiritual lives while exercising responsible freedom.

“Lent is a sacred time for consecration prayer and sacrificial service to others. I encourage our young people to nourish their spirituality and to use their freedom responsibly for faith and moral integrity are the foundation of meaningful life and leadership,” said Bishop Obanyi.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita commended the peaceful and harmonious environment at Kaimosi Friends University noting that it provides a strong foundation for holistic student growth and success.
“We are grateful for the prevailing peace and unity within our University community. Kaimosi Friends University remains committed to providing an enabling environment where every student can learn grow and develop both academically and socially,” Prof. Mwita affirmed.
