Kaimosi Friends University Holds 4th Graduation as First Vice-Chancellor Is Installed

Kaimosi Friends University on Wednesday, 19th November 2025, marked a defining milestone in its young but rapidly rising history as it hosted its 4th Graduation Ceremony, an event that also featured the installation of its first substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Nyamuhanga Mwita. Principal Secretary, education stakeholders, scholars, county officials, parents and friends of the university filled the ceremonial lawns in what has been described as KAFU’s most significant day since the granting of its Charter.

Speaking during the ceremony, Principal Secretary for Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, applauded the institution’s growth and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening higher education.

“It gives me profound joy and honour to join you on this momentous occasion. Today marks your fresh beginning where learning meets opportunity.” she said, congratulating the Class of 2025 for completing their academic journey.

Dr. Inyangala hailed the university’s increasing enrolment, expanding infrastructure, and alignment with national priorities under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). She underscored that the Ministry will continue supporting universities through funding reforms, digital learning infrastructure, and research promotion.

“Our aim is simple yet profound: to produce graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also ethical, innovative, and adaptable,” she emphasised.

The event’s Guest Speaker, veteran educator Prof. Chacha Nyaigotti, urged universities to champion knowledge co-creation and sustainable development. He called on the graduands to embrace responsibility and lead with courage.

“This ceremony is a celebration of vision, perseverance, leadership, and faith, knowledge must not exist in isolation; it must live, breathe, and solve real problems. The future is not waiting for you; it is calling you to lead. Let your education be a light that illuminates the path for others,” he told the jubilant graduates.

A major highlight of the day was the installation of Prof. Peter Nyamuhanga Mwita as the first Vice-Chancellor of KAFU a moment hailed as transformational for the university’s future.

Former University Council Chairperson Dr. Bernadette Mungai described the installation as “a dream fulfilled, today, we witness a dream that has endured seasons of growth, moments of uncertainty, and years of collective sacrifice” recalling the institution’s humble beginnings.

During the graduation session, the University Chancellor congratulated the graduands while calling on them to pursue purpose-driven lives anchored in service. He officially conferred degrees and declared the graduands KAFU’s newest alumni.

“Within you lies immense potential to transform society through knowledge, integrity, and service, let your lives speak of the values you have gained here,” he said.

The University Council highlighted major institutional progress, including infrastructural expansion, the modern library nearing completion, and the opening of Kobujoi Campus.
“KAFU continues to register major milestones in infrastructure and expansion,” the Council Chair remarked, affirming commitment to research, innovation, and stronger partnerships
