Kaimosi Friends University today held site handover for the installation of a High Mast/Tower Floodlight, a transformative project aimed at enhancing security and improving the overall campus environment.
The high mast floodlight is a generous donation by Hamisi Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Charles Gimose, whose support underscores his continued commitment to advancing development initiatives within the University and the wider community.

The Vice-Chancellor delivers his remarks during the site handover meeting for the installation of the High Mast Floodlight, appreciating Hon. Dr. Charles Gimose for the generous donation and reaffirming the University’s commitment to enhanced campus security and a safer learning environment.
The meeting brought together University Management, engineers from the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), representatives from the Office of the Member of Parliament, newly elected student leaders and other local leaders.
The deliberations focused on the technical aspects of the project, site suitability, safety standards and timelines for implementation before the official handover of the site to the engineers.

Notably, the newly elected student leaders played a pivotal role in the public participation process that determined the most appropriate location for the installation of the mast. Through structured consultations and engagement with the student body, the leaders gathered views and presented them during the site visit, ensuring that the project reflects the priorities and needs of the learners. Their active involvement demonstrated a strong commitment to inclusive leadership and participatory governance.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening campus security and enhancing the learning environment and he said that he is confident that the installation of the high mast floodlight will significantly improve visibility at night, deter insecurity and create a safer space for students and staff.
“On behalf of Kaimosi Friends University, I sincerely thank Hon. Dr. Charles Gimose, the Member of Parliament for Hamisi, for this generous donation of the High Mast Floodlight. The installation of this High Mast Floodlight will significantly enhance security within our university,” Said Prof. Mwita.
