Dr. Stellah Imade Papa is a Lecturer, Researcher, and the Chair of the Department of Clinical Medicine & Community Health within the School of Health Sciences (SOHES) at Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU). She earned her Master of Science in Human Anatomy from Maseno University in 2023, where her research specialized in the morphological changes of the lumbar spine. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine from Uzima University and a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from Egerton University.

With over 15 years of experience in clinical practice and health services management, Stellah has transitioned into a pivotal academic leader at KAFU. She spearheaded the technical design and construction of the university’s state-of-the-art Human Anatomy Laboratory and directed the strategic repurposing of the Vokoli infrastructure into a specialized center for medical instruction.

Research Interests

Stellah Imade Papa is highly skilled in clinical anatomy and the management of chronic health conditions. Her research integrates anatomical observation with clinical outcomes, specifically focusing on spinal pathologies and the socio-economic impacts of chronic pain. She has actively contributed to the development of multidisciplinary curricula, including the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), and specialized MSc Clinical Medicine programs in Mental health, Reproductive Health and Ophthalmology.

Her work aims to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes through a deeper understanding of structure-property relationships in the human body and the implementation of modern pedagogical methods.

  • Clinical Anatomy & Morphometry: Investigating degenerative changes in the lumbar spine, facet joints, and ligamentum flavum.
  • Musculoskeletal Health: Analyzing the association between spinal pathology and chronic low back pain in adult populations.
  • Socio-Medical Research: Exploring the intersection of gender, emotional well-being, and social impact in patients with chronic debilitating conditions.
  • Health Profession Education: Innovation in medical training and curriculum alignment with global WHO and Ministry of Health guidelines.
  • Chair of Department: Overseeing daily operations, curriculum delivery, and regulatory compliance (CUE/COC) for the Department of Clinical Medicine and Community Health
  • Curriculum Developer: Leading the drafting and accreditation of the MBChB, BSc Physiotherapy, BSc Public Health and MSc Clinical Medicine programs.
  • Clinical Governance: Coordinating student rotations and maintaining MOUs with teaching hospitals and County health facilities.
  • Health Consultant: NASCOP certified expert in HIV/AIDS management and PMTCT services with extensive experience at MMUST and FACES-Kisumu
