Dr. Victor Shikuku is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physical, Biological & Agricultural Sciences. He holds a BSc Basic Sciences (first class honors) (2010), MSc. in Chemistry (2014), and Ph.D. in Chemistry (2018) from Maseno University (Kenya). His postgraduate studies included research stays at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), Brazil. In 2017-2018 he was a visiting scholar at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) in India under the prestigious C.V Raman International Fellowship for African Researchers. In 2019, he undertook a postdoctoral research visit at Trier University in Germany, supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He serves as the research group leader on materials research for water treatment at Kaimosi Friends University. He has served as a member of the Technical Committee (TC) at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS). Dr Shikuku has published over 80 research papers in peer-reviewed journals that have attracted over 1700 citations. In 2024, he was awarded the National Outstanding Researcher Award (NORA) for young scientists by the National Research Fund (NRF)-Kenya.

His research entails geopolymers and their applications for water treatment, functionalization of carbonaceous materials for water treatment, environmental chemistry, food safety and climate action, biodegradation of pesticides and antibiotics and antimicrobial resistance patterns. He is the founder of the ChemEzzy App (https://chemezzy.co.ke/), a pioneering digital chemistry education platform aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning of chemistry. He is an editorial board member of Discover Environment, a reputable Springer Journal, a recognition of his contribution in his field.

He has served as Director, Examinations and currently as Director Research, Innovation and Outreach at Kaimosi Friends University.
