Kaimosi Friends University Signs HEST II Implementation Agreement at Ministry of Education
Kaimosi Friends University on 10th February 2026, marked a significant milestone in its growth and transformation journey after signing the Implementation Agreement for the Higher Education, Science and Technology Phase II Project (HEST II) at the Ministry of Education Headquarters in Nairobi.
The signing ceremony, led by the Cabinet Secretary for Education Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, brought together Council Chairpersons and Vice-Chancellors from 19 public universities across the country.
Kaimosi Friends University was represented by the Chairman of Council Prof. Stanley Khainga and the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita, reaffirming the University’s strong leadership commitment to national education reforms and institutional excellence.

HEST II is a five-year flagship Government initiative designed to transform Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in Kenyan universities. The project seeks to strengthen institutional capacity through strategic investments in infrastructure, modern equipment, academic development, research enhancement and governance systems. Its implementation is aligned with the country’s broader vision of strengthening higher education to meet the demands of a dynamic global economy.
For Kaimosi Friends University, this development represents a major boost to its academic and research capacity. Through HEST II, the University will receive support for STEM and medical science equipment and laboratory furniture valued at KSh 138 million. This investment will significantly enhance practical training, laboratory instruction and research innovation across relevant programmes, ensuring students receive hands-on, industry-relevant learning experiences.
The project will also strengthen the University’s preparedness to receive learners transitioning from the Competency-Based Education (CBE) pathway. By upgrading facilities, enhancing research systems and improving governance structures, Kaimosi Friends University is positioning itself as a forward-looking institution ready to nurture graduates equipped with relevant technical skills, innovation capacity and global competitiveness.
