On the 5th of April 2024, the Kaimosi Friends University Environment and Culture Club convened for its annual general meeting. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Student Affairs, and Research), Professor Julius Kipkemboi, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In attendance were not only club members but also representatives from other university clubs, including the Red Cross.

During his address, Professor Kipkemboi underscored the critical importance of environmental conservation and the need for a thorough examination of climate change. He extended an invitation to all club members to participate in a significant event scheduled for World Environment Day on June 5th, 2024. Furthermore, Professor Kipkemboi encouraged club members to actively recruit new members and collaborate with local schools to advance environmental conservation efforts. He also pledged to support the club's application for UNESCO affiliation.

Lucy Mbugua, the newly appointed Chairperson of the Environment Club, provided an overview of the events and initiatives undertaken during the academic year 2023/2024. She highlighted the club's plan to implement a water purification project using the Amatsi dam system, which serves the community in the Kaimosi complex and its environs. Additionally, the club aims to raise awareness about water conservation and pollution prevention within the society.

The outgoing club leaders ceremoniously handed over their responsibilities to the incoming leadership team, wishing them success in their endeavors. Moreover, the club expressed gratitude to Professor Julius Kipkemboi's suggestion to create a WhatsApp group to facilitate communication among members. Ms Margaret Kanini, the club coordinator and co-patron, encouraged members to maintain their passion for environmental advocacy. The meeting concluded with a celebration that included cutting a cake and enjoying refreshments.
